Statement of
Faith

As an interdenominational chapter of TPUSA Faith, we unite around the essentials of the Christian faith while allowing freedom in non-essentials. Our teaching, discipleship, and activity will remain faithful to Scripture and focused on these core beliefs.

The Bible

We believe the Bible—comprising the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments—is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is breathed out by God through the Holy Spirit, written by human authors, and preserved by His providence. As God’s revelation, the Scriptures are the ultimate authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice.

The Bible is fully sufficient to teach, correct, and train believers in righteousness, equipping them for every good work. It is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, able to penetrate the heart and transform lives through the power of the Spirit. While it was written to a specific people, time, and culture, the fundamental truths of Scripture transcend the spirit of any age and culture. The Word of God is truth, trustworthy in all it affirms, and will endure forever.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:19–21; John 17:17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 19:7–11; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 24:35

The Trinity

We believe there is one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each fully and equally God, sharing one divine essence. God is not three gods, nor one Person who merely appears in three modes, but one Being in three co-equal, co-eternal Persons who act inseparably in creation, revelation, and redemption.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1; John 10:30; Luke 3:21–22

God the Father

We believe God the Father is the sovereign Creator, the source of all that exists, who lovingly purposes all things according to the counsel of His will. He sent the Son for our salvation and sends the Spirit to indwell and seal believers. He adopts into His family all who are united to Christ by faith and cares for them as children.

Scripture: Genesis 1:1; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 3:16–17; Ephesians 1:3–5, 11; James 1:17; John 6:37–40

Jesus Christ the Son

We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, took on true humanity through the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as our substitutionary atonement. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father’s right hand, and intercedes for His people as the only Savior and mediator. He will return personally and gloriously to judge and to reign.

Scripture: John 1:1, 14; Luke 1:35; Philippians 2:5–8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:24–26; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, fully God, who glorifies Christ, convicts the world of sin, regenerates and indwells believers, and empowers the church for holy living and mission. He bestows spiritual gifts for the building up of the body, leads God’s people into truth, and seals them for the day of redemption.

Scripture: John 14:16–17, 26; John 16:7–15; Acts 1:8; Acts 5:3–4; Titus 3:5; Romans 8:9–16; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; Ephesians 1:13–14; Galatians 5:22–23

Creation

We believe that God created all things out of nothing, by the power of His Word and for His glory. All three Persons of the Trinity were active in creation, and God continues to sustain and rule over everything He has made.

Though creation is now subject to frustration because of sin, God has promised its renewal. In Christ, we look forward to the new heaven and new earth, where righteousness will dwell and God will be with His people forever.

Scripture: Genesis 1:1, 26–28, 31; Psalm 19:1; John 1:1–3; Colossians 1:16–17; Romans 8:19–23; Revelation 21:1–5

Mankind

We believe all people are created in the image of God and therefore possess inherent dignity, value, and worth. Humanity was designed to glorify God, live in fellowship with Him, and steward His creation. God created mankind as male and female, equal in essence and worth yet distinct in role, and He ordained marriage as the lifelong covenant union of one biological man and one biological woman.

Because of Adam’s sin, all humanity has fallen, inheriting a sinful nature and standing under the judgment of God. As a result, every person is separated from God, spiritually dead, and wholly corrupt in every aspect of their being. Our minds are darkened, our wills enslaved to sin, and our affections bent away from God. Apart from divine grace, we are utterly incapable of seeking God, pleasing Him, or saving ourselves. This condition leaves us in desperate need of salvation.

Yet, God in His mercy has provided redemption through Jesus Christ. By grace through faith, fallen men and women are restored to fellowship with God, transformed into the likeness of Christ, and given new life through the Spirit.

Scripture: Genesis 1:26–28; Genesis 2:18–25; Romans 3:10–23; Romans 5:12–19; Ephesians 2:1–3; Jeremiah 17:9; Matthew 19:4–6

Salvation

We believe that salvation is entirely the work of God’s grace and not the result of human effort or merit. Because all people are dead in their sins and incapable of seeking or pleasing God, salvation is initiated and accomplished by God alone through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  • The Author of Salvation – God the Father planned redemption from eternity past, God the Son accomplished redemption through His atoning work on the cross, and God the Holy Spirit applies redemption through regeneration and sanctification.

Scripture: Ephesians 1:3–7; 2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:5–7

  • The Accomplishment of Salvation – Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died as our substitute bearing the penalty for sin, and rose bodily from the grave. His sacrifice satisfies God’s justice and secures forgiveness, righteousness, and reconciliation for all who believe.

Scripture: Romans 3:24–26; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 1 Peter 3:18

  • The Application of Salvation – The Holy Spirit regenerates the sinner, grants the gift of faith, and unites the believer to Christ. Salvation is received by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, apart from works, though good works flow as the fruit and evidence of genuine faith.

Scripture: Ephesians 2:8–10; John 3:5–8; Philippians 1:29; James 2:17

  • The Assurance of Salvation – All who are truly born again are kept secure in Christ forever. Nothing can separate the believer from the love of God, and the Spirit Himself bears witness that we are children of God.

Scripture: John 10:27–30; Romans 8:29–39; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:3–5

In salvation, God graciously calls, justifies, adopts, sanctifies, and glorifies His people, ensuring that the good work He began will be brought to completion.

Scripture: John 14:6; Romans 10:9–10; Ephesians 2:8–9; John 10:27–30; Romans 8:29–30; Philippians 1:6

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ at the end of the age. Just as His first coming was literal and historical, so His second coming will be unmistakable and final, the blessed hope of the Church and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.

At His coming, Jesus will judge the living and the dead, destroy all evil, and consummate His kingdom in righteousness. He will vindicate His name, reward His people, and establish justice forever. The dead in Christ will be raised, believers who remain will be transformed and glorified, and creation itself will be renewed as God dwells with His people in a new heaven and new earth.

Because the timing of His return is unknown, believers are called to live in readiness, holiness, and mission. We eagerly await the day when Christ returns in power and great glory, when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord, and He will reign forever and ever.

Scripture: Matthew 24:29–31, 36–44; John 14:1–3; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; 1 Corinthians 15:50–57; Titus 2:11–13; 2 Timothy 4:1; 2 Peter 3:11–12; Revelation 1:7; 19:11–16; 20:11–15; 21:1–5
